Ingredients
- 6 to 8 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise, divided
- 4 slices bread
- 4 to 5 leaves iceberg lettuce, torn into smaller pieces
- 1 tomato, sliced
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Before you cook
- Tear the iceberg lettuce into bread-size pieces.
- Slice the tomato.
- Blot the tomato slices with a paper towel if they are very juicy.
Steps
- Cook the bacon in a 400F oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until crisp.
- Reserve the rendered bacon fat for another use.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise over one side of all 4 bread slices.
- Warm a pan over medium heat.
- Toast the bread mayo-side down for about 3 minutes per side, until golden.
- Spread the remaining mayonnaise on one side of each toasted slice.
- Lay the torn lettuce on 2 of the slices.
- Crumble 3 to 4 slices of bacon over the lettuce on each sandwich.
- Top each with 2 tomato slices and season with salt and pepper.
- Close each sandwich with a second slice, mayo side facing in, and serve.
